Taking a jab at Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Aditynath government, the UP Congress unit shared a viral photo of a stray dog walking with a human hand in its mouth on the Centenary Hospital campus at King George's Medical University.

In an X post, the grand old party stated, "This view is of KGMU, one of the largest government hospitals in the state capital." The dog is walking comfortably on campus, carrying a severed human hand. Undoubtedly, no one would have witnessed such 'acche din'."

According to reports, the dog was witnessed roaming with the human hand for approximately 200 metres amidst a crowd of patients, causing panic among onlookers. Although authorities were promptly alerted, the source of the limb remains unknown.

Witnesses described the scene as shocking and horrifying, prompting swift action from KGMU authorities who, with the assistance of security personnel, managed to capture the dog, as per a report by Hindustan Times.

Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson for KGMU, told HT, “Part of the human limb has been recovered. The legal process is being followed to dispose it and track its source.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that the dog may have retrieved the human limb from outside the Centenary Hospital campus, possibly from an improperly disposed location, the HT report said.

"The human hand has now been given to the department in question. It will be disposed of according to protocol," Singh said.

The KGMU campus has several open gates with cattle grids, but a few dogs manage to enter in search of food. The Centenary Hospital block has two main front gates, as well as additional gates at the rear of the building that connect to the main campus.
