New Delhi: After Congress leader Manickam Tagore's exit as incharge of Telangana Congress affairs, the party central leadership named Manikrao Thakre as the new AICC incharge of Telangana. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has delegated Manikrao Thakre instead of Manickam Tagore who has been moved to Goa. He will supplant Dinesh Gundu Rao as party's Goa incharge.

"Congress President has appointed Manikrao Thakre as AICC In-Charge of Telangana, with immediate effect. Congress President has also appointed Manickam Tagore as AICC In-Charge of Goa with immediate effect" Congress General Secretary, Organisation, KC Venugopal said in a communique.

The communique also stated that Dinesh Gundu Rao will remain in charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry while Tagore will take over as in-charge of Goa.

"Dinesh Gundu Rao will continue as AICC In-Charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Appreciating their services, the party relieves Manickam Tagore as AICC In-Charge of Telangana and Dinesh Gundu Rao as AICC In-Charge of Goa," the statement reads.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Manickam Tagore had resigned as Telangana AICC director. Tagore quit his job, according to unsubstantiated reports, blaming the leaders of the state Congress for not cooperating with him.

The reorganisation came before the election for the Telangana Assembly, which is likely to take place before the end of the year.
