New Delhi: Three Naxalites were killed during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Sunday morning, according to a senior police official. The clash occurred at approximately 8 am on a hill situated between Bhomra and Hurtarai villages within the jurisdiction of the Koyalibeda police station area. The encounter transpired as a joint team of security personnel conducted an anti-Naxalite operation in the region, as stated by Kanker Superintendent of Police, Indira Kalyan Elesela.

 

"The security forces had received inputs about the presence of cadres belonging to company no. 5 of Maoists in Bhomra, Hurtarai and Michchebeda villages", PTI quoted Indira as saying. He further added that a joint squad of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and 30th battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) was dispatched to the area on Saturday night, reported PTI.

 

Following a brief exchange of gunfire, a gunfight ensued, resulting in the Naxalites fleeing the scene, SP remarked as per PTI. Subsequently, the bodies of three Naxalites were discovered at the site, along with several muzzle-loading guns. Additionally, various items of daily use and materials associated with the Maoist movement were seized during the operation. The identities of the deceased Naxalites have yet to be confirmed, he added, as per PTI.

 


Chhattisgarh Armed Force Personnel Killed In IED Blast In Bijapur


A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, where a head constable of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) lost his life due to a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites, police said. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm near Bechapal Padampara village, within the jurisdiction of the Mirture Mirtur police station limits, in the Naxal-affected district, an official said, reported PTI.

 

The operation was launched from Bechapal police camp towards Kutulpara village, the official informed. "When the patrolling team was advancing through the area near the camp, head Constable Ram Ashish Yadav, belonging to CAF's 19th battalion, inadvertently stepped over a pressure IED connection triggering the blast, resulting in his death", he remarked, as per PTI.

 

The body of the martyred personnel was shifted to Mirtur, the official said, adding that a search operation was underway in Mirtur area.
