Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described praying in the water-enclosed city of Dwarka as a "very divine experience" after enjoying some scuba diving on Sunday off the shore of the Arabian Sea at the Panchkui beach in Gujarat. Scuba diving activities are conducted near Beyt Dwarka island, allowing individuals to explore the underwater remnants of ancient Dwarka unearthed by archaeologists.
"To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. I felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion. May Bhagwan Shri Krishna bless us all," the prime minister said in a post on social media platform X, following his scuba diving venture. He also shared photographs of his underwater excursion before attending a public event.
Additionally, Modi paid homage to Lord Sri Krishna temple in Dwarka during his visit.
In the morning, the Prime Minister inaugurated 'Sudarshan Setu,' the nation's lengthiest cable-stayed bridge, spanning the Arabian Sea to link Beyt Dwarka island with mainland Okha in Devbhumi Dwarka district. Earlier in the day, he offered prayers at the Lord Sri Krishna temple located on Beyt Dwarka island.
He also went underwater, in the deep sea, and prayed at the site of the submerged city of Dwarka. Underwater, he even offered peacock feathers as a token of reverence.
Dwarka, an ancient city intricately linked with Lord Krishna, symbolizes a bygone era of splendor and prosperity.
Reflecting on his experience, PM Modi remarked in Rajkot, "Today, I benefited from spiritual practice. The ancient Dwarka, believed to have been established by Lord Krishna himself, now lies beneath the sea. I had the opportunity to delve deep into the sea to witness the submerged city, Dwarka of Lord Krishna, touch its remnants in gratitude towards life, and worship the divine."
PM Inaugurates AIIMS In Gujarat's Rajkot
Currently, PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat where he is scheduled to attend two events in the Devbhumi Dwarka and Rajkot districts in the Saurashtra region on Sunday.
The Prime Minister officially inaugurated Gujarat’s inaugural All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot. According to an official statement, the PM arrived at Rajkot AIIMS on Sunday afternoon and delivered a speech at a gathering in the Race Course ground in the city.
During the event, Modi also virtually inaugurated four other newly-built AIIMS, located in Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh), Bathinda (Punjab), Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh), and Kalyani (West Bengal).
