New Delhi: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed and 13 others were injured after a truck they were travelling in overturned in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on Saturday, news agency PTI reported. In a separate incident, seven people were killed after a head-on collision between a bus and a private vehicle in Didwana city.


The BSF truck accident took place under Shahgarh police station area of the district. The deceased has been identified as SK Dubey.


The injured were rushed to Jaisalmer where they are undergoing treatment at Jawahar hospital, police said. The family of the deceased have been informed and a post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival, police added.


Speaking to news agency ANI, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaisalmer, Priyanka Kumawat, said, “A truck belonging to BSF's Battalion 149, was going to the border. It met with an accident near Langtala village, a total of 16 BSF personnel were travelling in the truck, out of which 13 got injured and one died. The injured are being treated at the government hospital. All of them are stable...The reason behind the accident will be investigated.”

Earlier in June, the driver and two army personnel were injured after their truck fell into a stream in the western Dooars.


According to a report by PTI, the accident took place when the truck was heading to the bridge of the Rungdung, a hilly stream flowing close to Mongpong near Sevoke, around 25 kilometres from Siliguri. The truck driver lost control and the vehicle went off the road and fell into the stream. The trio was rescued and admitted to hospital.
