In a moment that quickly drew attention both online and in political circles, Nishant Kumar—son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar—was seen bowing down to touch the feet of Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan SM during an event in Bakhtiyarpur on Saturday. The unexpected gesture was met with humility, as the DM promptly stopped Nishant and greeted him instead with folded hands.
The incident occurred just before the arrival of CM Nitish Kumar, who was in Bakhtiyarpur, located in the Baarh subdivision of Patna district, to inaugurate several key development projects. Nishant had reached the venue ahead of his father. As the District Magistrate arrived, Nishant approached him with a traditional show of respect that surprised many onlookers. The moment was captured on camera and has since gone viral, sparking varied reactions on social media and among political observers.
CM Inaugurates Major Ganga-Related Projects
The event marked the formal inauguration of the newly constructed Seedi Ghat, a project executed by the Water Resources Department. Alongside this, CM Nitish Kumar also inaugurated a scenic Marine Drive and a pedestrian pathway, all developed to provide safer and more accessible spaces along the banks of the Ganges for the public.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also took time to inspect these new facilities, walking along the Marine Drive and reviewing the ghat area. He emphasized the importance of reconnecting people with the river while ensuring public convenience and environmental care.
Push for Ganga Revival
Beyond the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, Nitish Kumar also reviewed ongoing initiatives aimed at reviving the main stream of the Ganges in the region. He directed officials to accelerate the flow of water between Ghansukpur and Ranisarai, and instructed that work begin swiftly on constructing a pucca embankment to bolster flood control and riverbank safety.
