Vikassheel Insaan Party chief and former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani's father, Jitan Sahani was found dead at his residence in Darbhanga on Tuesday morning. Senior Superintendent of Police, Jagunath Reddy confirmed the death of 65-year-old Jitan Sahani and said that a team of senior officers have reached the spot and investigating the matter.
This incident was reported from the family's ancestral house located in Supaul market of Afzalla Panchayat in Biraul subdivision, Darbhanga where Jitan Sahani's mutilated body was found. Several stab injuries and cut marks were found on his chest and stomach.
Reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained and police probe is underway.
Bihar minister Nitin Nabin said that a Special Investigation Team has been formed with immediate effect to probe the matter. He said that the probable cause of murder seems to be personal enmity or other major reasons. "The government will investigate the matter with immediate effect and the truth will be revealed to the people," he said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Manish Chandra Choudhary said that the police have investigated the spot and prima facie, it appears that somebody barged in the house with an intention of theft and was abstained.
The murder happened after seriously injuring the victim, Choudhary told news agency PTI.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that action will be taken and the accused will put behind bars. "The government stands with Mukesh Sahani's family," he added.
Meanhwile, Rashtriya Janata Dal slammed the Nitish Kumar government saying the system has collapsed in the state and that no political leader is safe.
"... What is going on in Bihar? No day goes by without a murder... The Chief Minister is in an unconscious state of mind. He might not even know by now that something has happened in the state. No political leader is safe in Bihar... The system has collapsed. Bihar is at the mercy of gods...," said RJD Spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav.
