Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has been elected as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Tejashwi, who once again secured victory from the Raghopur constituency, takes on the role for the second time after the Mahagathbandhan’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly election. The alliance won only 35 seats, of which the RJD accounted for 25. His appointment comes at a politically sensitive moment for the party, with internal tensions within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family spilling into the public domain.
Yadav Family Feud Snowballs
The decision to elect Tejashwi Yadav as the Leader of the Opposition comes amid a deepening family dispute. Lalu Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, has levelled serious allegations against her brother, accusing him of “humiliating and throwing her out of the house.”
“I have no family. You can go and ask this to Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and Tejashwi Yadav. They are the ones who threw me out of the family,” Rohini told reporters in her first reaction following her ‘shocking’ announcement to quit politics.
In an emotional post on X, Rohini claimed she was “humiliated,” “abused,” and even faced the threat of being hit with a slipper. She described herself as a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother who chose to stand up for her dignity. According to her account, family members and those around her expected her to compromise, but she refused to abandon her values. She said the consequences were harsh, verbal abuse, physical threats, and ultimately, expulsion from her parental home.
