New Delhi: The under construction Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bihar’s Bhagalpur collapsed on Sunday, news agency ANI reported. The visuals were caught on camera by the locals. However, no casualty has been reported so far. According to the report, this is the second time the bridge has collapsed.

"The incident of under-construction bridge collapse happened at around 6 pm. No casualties reported till now. Local administration on the spot, we have asked for a report from 'Pul Nirman Nigam'," ANI quoted DDC Bhagalpur Kumar Anurag as saying.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a probe into the incident and asked officials concerned to find out those responsible.

"We were expecting that the inauguration of the bridge would happen by November-December later this year. But the way it collapsed is unfortunate. A probe must happen into the incident, there's some fault," Sultanganj JDU MLA Lalit Narayan Mandal said.

At least 3-feet part of the bridge collapsed into river Ganga below.

Notably, the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge had also suffered some damage back in April due to a storm.

According to reports, the middle portion of the bridge was being constructed on the river Ganga between Khagaria, Aguwani and Sultanganj. A part of the bridge had collapsed two years back as well.

The Aguwani Sultanganj Ganga bridge was being constructed in Bihar's Khagaria at a cost of over Rs 1,700 crore.

According to the ANI report, the front of the 206m-long bridge between pillar 2 and 3 has collapsed.
