New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi launched a blistering attack on RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav as Nitish Kumar switched sides to form an alliance with BJP-led NDA and form the government in Bihar.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Owaisi said, “I want to ask Tejaswi Yadav how does it feel? He took away four of our MLAs. Does he feel the same pain now? He has been played the same way he played us.”

He was hinting at the switch by four MLAs, who were earlier with the AIMIM but later jumped ship and joined RJD in 2022. In the 2020 Assembly elections, the AIMIM had bagged five seats in the Seemanchal region. The party won in Amour, Baisi, Kochdhaman, Bahadurganj, and Jokihat constituencies. But Tejashwi, later inducted four of them in RJD in June 2022.

As the four AIMIM leaders switched sides, the RJD emerged as the single largest party in the Bihar assembly, which helped Tejashwi Yadav's party become the most preferred political outfit for Muslim voters in Bihar.

Owaisi further said that Nitish Kumar, Tesjaswi Yadav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the people of Bihar for having “betrayed” them.

“Nitish Kumar, Tesjaswi Yadav, PM Modi should apologise to the people of Bihar... All three have betrayed the people of Bihar, especially Nitish Kumar... The term political opportunism will be an understatement, Nitish Kumar has broken all records... I always said Nitish Kumar would go with BJP,” Owaisi told the news agency.

He also slammed Tajashwi for “sidelining” the people and always focussing on making someone from his family the chief minister of Bihar.

“Nitish Kumar will just be the face of RSS and Narendra Modi's governance in Bihar. Tejaswi Yadav and his family have sidelined the people of Bihar and their focus is to only have someone from among them to be the chief minister. Nitish Kumar wants to be the CM for as long as he lives. BJP just wants everything to themselves, by hook or by crook. The people of Bihar have been betrayed. There is no development in Bihar. Bureaucracy is on the rise in the state. AIMIM always said that political secularism is used to betray Indian Muslims. And now Muslims of Bihar have been betrayed again,” Owaisi told ANI.
