New Delhi: In connection with the alleged rape of woman at a Delhi hotel in 2021, a Bihar court ordered the Patna police to file a rape case against senior IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and former RJD MLA Gulab Yadav, reported news agency ANI. The woman has been accused of being gang raped at gunpoint by IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and former MLA Gulab.
The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of the Danapur Civil Court has ordered the registration of a rape case against both of them after hearing the victim's lawyer's petition.
The woman is said to have submitted this petition in 2021, and the bench then asked the Patna police for a preliminary inquiry report on the matter. However, the court dismissed the case if the report was not submitted.
The ACJM's order was then challenged by the victim in the Patna High Court. On the basis of the rape victim's complaint, the High Court mandated a rehearing of the case and ordered the Patna Police to submit the preliminary investigation report to the ACJM Danapur Court. The Patna Police's lack of interest in this matter has also been noted by the court.
According to ANI, the hearing resumed in the Danapur court on the High Court's instruction. At the same time, the police's investigation revealed that the victim woman and officers Sanjeev Hans and Gulab Yadav were in a Delhi hotel together.
In her complaint to Patna Police in 2021, the complainant alleged, according to the information, that the MLA Gulab Yadav had tempted her to become a member of the Women's Commission. She was summoned to MLA Yadav's residence in Rukanpura, Patna, one day. The MLA raped her during this time, and he also recorded her on video.
The victim stated that the MLA then began to extort her.
According to the woman, Gulab Yadav called her to a hotel in Delhi, where IAS officer Sanjeev Hans was also present, and threatened to make the obscene video viral. With her under their control and armed, they both carried out the rape.
Ranjan Kumar Sharma, the lawyer for the complainant, said that they had done this in 2021.
According to the victim's lawyer, Sanjeev Hans was working as an IAS officer in Patna at the time, and Gulab Yadav was the RJD's MLA for the Jhanjharpur assembly at the time.
Advocate Ranjan Kumar Sharma stated that the complainant submitted multiple written complaints to the Patna Police in 2021 for the purpose of registering an FIR, but that the police remained silent and did not take any action due to the high-profile nature of the case.
The advocate continued, "She had requested to register an FIR in the court of ACJM of Danapur, but it was dismissed there as well because the police have not submitted the reports."
He went on to say, "Now after receiving the orders from Patna High court the ACJM of Danapur Civil Court has ordered to register a rape case against both IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and MLA Gulab Yadav."
