Bengal Factory Blast: A day after an explosion rocked Bengal's Duttapukur killing seven, BJP has sought a probe into the incident by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arguing that it was a powerful RDX that exploded at the site. West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday said that he has also filed a PIL in the Kolkata High Court, adding that it might be listed tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug 29).

" It was RDX and it was a powerful explosion...I have already filed a PIL in the Kolkata High Court...My submission is granted by the court and hopefully, it will be listed tomorrow..," he said.

Prashant Ghosh, an official from Barasat Fire Station told ANI that he has heard that perhaps eight bodies have been found from the blast site.

Meanwhile, opposition parties blamed CM Mamata Banerjee-led state government for the explosion and alleged that trading of explosives is taking place in the open in the state. Notably, a similar blast at an illegal firecracker factory in Egra had sparked a massive row in the state.

The impact of the explosion in Duttapukur was such that not only did the house where the factory was operating turn into a heap of rubble, but it also damaged some of the neighbouring houses. Meanwhile, BJP state unit chief Sukanta Majumdar wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting an NIA probe into the incident, news agency ANI reported.
