Chennai: The baby of Anupama, a daughter of CPI(M) leader who took to protest against her father for taking her baby away from her without consent, has been handed over by an Andhra Pradesh couple to Kerala State Child Welfare Council on Saturday. The baby was handed over by its foster parents in Andhra Pradesh and a DNA test to confirm if the baby of Anupama will likely take place in the coming days.
According to a report on Manorama, the CWC authorities including three police officials who have received the baby will soon bring the baby back to Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The baby is reportedly presumed to be the baby of Anupama S Chandran, who was a former student activist. She alleged that her parents kidnapped the baby immediately after the baby's birth and gave the baby away for adoption since she got married against the wishes of her parents.

The CWC took action in the case after the 22-year-old mother Anupama took to an indefinite protest in front of the council on Thursday. Anupama also demanded CWC to take action against its officials and the officials of KSCCWC who were reportedly behind the adoption process.
Following this, the CWC ordered to bring the baby back to Kerala and carry out a DNA test to identify the parents of the baby.
The allegation against a CPI (M) leader has created a widespread political controversy in Kerala. The Opposition Congress even took the issue to the state Assembly and termed it as a heinous "honour crimes" in the state.
