8-Year-Old Dies After School Bus Overturns

The incident occurred just a day after a similar accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district on Monday, where an 8-year-old girl died and three other students were injured when a private school bus overturned, as per IANS.

The accident occurred near Obulavaripalli. The bus fell by the roadside after hitting a boulder on its way to Shravani Vidyaniketan School, about five kilometres from the town.

According to IANS, the deceased, named Bhavishya, was sitting close to the bus door. She died on the spot. The vehicle was carrying 20 students in total.

The bus driver had apparently failed to notice the boulder and lost control of the vehicle after hitting it. Following the accident, the bus driver fled the scene. A passerby rescued the students and alerted the police, as per the report.

Most of the students received minor injuries while three were rushed to hospital. Local residents have alleged that schools are operating buses without proper safety norms.
