'Obscene' Dance Staged At Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations In Tirupati, 7 Organisers Detained

Tirupati Superintendent of Police L. Subba Rayudu condemned the incident, stating that Tirupati is a revered pilgrimage site and that such obscene performances would not be tolerated.

The sacred city of Tirupati, renowned as a "Maha Punyakshetra," witnessed a shocking incident during Vinayaka Chathurti celebrations in Saptagiri Nagar, where organizers staged a dance performance that alleged crossed all boundaries of decency. The performance, involving young women and recorded in an obscene manner, took place at the Vinayaka Swami Mandapam, violating the sanctity of the religious event.

Upon receiving information about the incident through social media, police swiftly took action and arrested seven organizers: J. Madhusudan Reddy, M. Rajendraprasad, M. Vinod Kumar, G. Kiran Kumar, Jaswant Reddy, P. Vinay, and Hemant. The arrests were made under stringent legal sections for the performance that took place on the night of September 9.

Following orders from the Superintendent of Police (SP), Tirupati DSP Venkata Narayana supervised the operation, while Alipiri Circle Inspector (CI) Ram Kishore led the arrests. According to police reports, the controversial performances occurred around 9 PM, with the organisers allegedly bringing women from outside for these dances before the Ganesh idol.

Tirupati Superintendent of Police L. Subba Rayudu condemned the incident, stating that Tirupati is a revered pilgrimage site and that such obscene performances would not be tolerated. He emphasized that those who violate rules would face severe legal consequences, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

Meanwhile, Karnataka experienced unrest as clashes erupted between two groups during a Ganesh idol immersion procession. Mobs went on a rampage, targeting shops and vehicles, leading to a tense situation in Mandya. Police arrested 52 individuals following these incidents on Wednesday night. As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the town preventing the assembly of more than four people until September 14. The communal clash erupted between Hindu and Muslim people over dancing in front of the dargah in Nagamangala area.
