Andhra Floods: Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Criticises Past Govts, Says 'They Didn't Pay Attention To Encroachment'

Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan expressed concern that the encroachments are causing significant problems by obstructing the natural flow of water, exacerbating the flooding situation.

Amid the ongoing flood crisis in Andhra Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has criticised previous state governments for their lack of action on encroachments, particularly in urban areas. He expressed concern that these encroachments are causing significant problems by obstructing the natural flow of water, exacerbating the flooding situation.

On flood situation in parts of the state, Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan said, "I did a review meeting today. Forest officials are very alert on /violations or encroachments in forest areas and take action. When it comes to encroachments in urban areas, no action is taken. The previous governments did not pay attention to it. Encroachment is causing a lot of problems as it blocks the natural course of water..."

"The Central government would do whatever is needed for the state if the situation arises," he said. 

 

The torrential rains have resulted in 33 deaths across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, damaged roads, inundated rail tracks, and submerged vast areas of farmland. Residents are struggling with their daily needs, and rescue and rehabilitation efforts are ongoing, according to officials.

Chief Minister Naidu instructed state officials to intensify relief efforts and ensure prompt assistance to flood victims, especially in Vijayawada, which has been severely affected by the unprecedented rainfall and flooding.

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited flood-affected areas in their respective states to assess the damage and oversee relief efforts.
