As heavy rain continued to lash parts of Gujarat, Ahmedabad Airport got flooded late Saturday following which passengers struggled to commute. The waterlogging at the airport gave a hard time to passengers. The airport authority has asked passengers to check in with their airlines about their flights. Since then, passengers have been sharing visuals of the flooded airport on social media sites.

Ahmedabad Airport in a statement yesterday said, "Due to heavy rains and water logging around the airport, we request all passengers to check with their respective airlines before starting their journey. Passengers are also advised to avoid parking at the airport facility." It added, "Our teams are working round the clock to ensure a safe and comfortable journey at our #GatewayToGoodness."

One of the users while recording a video at the airport said that Ahmedabad Airport has become the first in the world that can also be used as a seaport.

The situation at the airport has now improved though as the staff worked tirelessly.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that he spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and inquired about the flood-like situation in the state. Heavy rainfall pounded several districts in Gujarat's southern and Saurashtra regions on Saturday, which triggered a flood-like situation in urban areas and isolated villages as the water level in dams and rivers surged to dangerous levels.
