One person was injured in a blast on Monday morning near Golden Temple in Punjab’s Amritsar where another blast had taken place on Saturday, May 6, reported PTI citing police. The person suffered minor injuries and the glass facades of some buildings were damaged in the explosion at Heritage Street near the temple. Police said that the cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained, adding that they are "verifying" the cause of the incident. 


PTI mentioned that the blast was heard within one-km radius of the Golden Temple. Police said that the forensic teams reached the spot and were conducting an investigation. 






"We are verifying. The situation is normal here. Anti-sabotage, Bomb Squad, and FSL teams are here," Amritsar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mehtab Singh told ANI. 


He further said that one person has received a minor injury in the leg and the glass facades of some nearby buildings were damaged in the blast, as reported by ANI. 


"After the clarification, we can tell how it happened. The investigation is going on by our teams," he added. 


Notably, at around 11:15 pm on May 6, there was an explosion at the same Heritage Street near the Golden Temple. Police said that one person was injured in the Saturday blast, as reported by ANI. 


According to PTI, the Amritsar police said, "A news related to blasts in Amritsar is going viral on social media, the situation is under control. Investigation is on to establish the facts of the incident and there is no need to panic. Urge citizens to maintain peace and harmony, advise all to fact-check before sharing."  


PTI reported that a devotee, Karandeep Singh, who was present at the spot said a few girls travelling in an auto-rickshaw were hit by shards of glass and sustained minor injuries after the explosion. “The girls had come from Haryana's Panchkula to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple”, he said, the agency quoted. 


Amritsar ADCP Mehtab Singh said that both blasts, the one that occurred on Saturday and another one on Monday, were of low intensity.
