Indian cricket team's former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who retired from international cricket in , announced that his foundation YouWeCan is setting up 1,000 beds for critical care of Coronavirus patients in various hospitals across India.
The initiative will be launched in partnership with OneDigital Entertainment. Its objective is to strengthen the capacity of government, military, autonomous and charitable service hospitals with the installation of beds equipped with oxygen facilities, ventilators and BiPAP machines and other necessary medical equipment required for the care of critical Covid-19 patients.

“All of us have lost loved ones and also witnessed countless cases of people struggling for oxygen, ICU beds and other critical care facilities required to combat COVID. I too, have been deeply impacted by this and felt that we all need to step up to support our healthcare providers and the central as well as state governments who are all working tirelessly,” Singh said in a statement.
YouWeCan has started setting up beds in hospitals in Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
Witnessing slight improvement in the Covid situation, several states have started the unlock process.
Meanwhile, Union Health Ministry on Tuesday informed that a total of 21.60 crore vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country, including 1.67 crore doses to the health workers. The Ministry said the Covid-19 active cases are down by 50 percent, adding the cases have been consistently declining for one week in at least 30 states and Union Territories.
