New Delhi: Former Team India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was arrested in Haryana for using a casteist slur against Yuzvendra Chahal, during an Instagram chat last year. The legendary left-handed batsman was arrested in Hansi, Hisar district of Haryana. However, he soon got the interim bail.

Complainant Rajat Kalsan said," Yuvraj Singh was given complete VIP treatment by Haryana Police and selfies were taken with him. Unlike what should normally be the case with an accused, he was fed juices and snacks in the gazetted officer's mess and was deliberately kept away from the media"

"We have challenged the order of the Hon'ble Punjab Haryana High Court granting interim bail to Yuvraj Singh in the Supreme Court and we will try our best that celebrities and VIPs who very casually use derogatory words for people of our society should be sent to jail and a strict message should be given to the society," he added.

According to the complainant Advocate Rajat Kalsan, now the Hansi police will present a challan against Yuvraj Singh in the court, after which the former cricketer will also have to get regular bail from the special court, will have to appear on every date and if proven guilty, can also be sentenced to 5 years of jail.

Yuvraj Singh has played 304 ODIs, 58 T20 Internationals and 40 Test matches for Team India.  He also played an important role in helping Team India win the ODI World Cup in 2011.  In the year 2019, he announced his retirement from cricket.
