Kolkata [India], Feb 4 (ANI): Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday said that women are the backbone of our country.
Speaking at 'Kolkata police annual sports meet-2018', Sachin said, "As far as women power is considered, I feel they are the backbone of India."
"I still remember, as a child when one would come back home, one would always expect mother to be around. Do everything possible for you and we took all those things for granted," he added.
Acknowledging the efforts of housewives and working women, the former player said, "For women to take care of their house and to do their job is credible and full marks to you for your commitment."
Tendulkar was sharing the stage with legendary footballer P.K. Banerjee.
Lauding the Kolkata police, he said, "Feeling secure is bit like driving. Safe driving is when the passengers feel safe. And here, Kolkata police is the driver and we are the passengers. We feel safe and secure when you are around." (ANI)
