New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer (58 off 29-balls) finished off in style with a mighty six to propel team India to a six-wicket win in the series opener against New Zealand on Friday. After put to bat first, Kiwi star openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro got off to a flier start in Auckland as they brutally thrashed the Indian bowlers to score a 50 run partnership inside 5 overs. Team India desperately needed a wicket to stop the flow of runs.

For India, it was young all-rounder Shivam Dube who got the first wicket. Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch at deep square-leg near the boundary rope by lobbing the ball in the air and settling in at the end to send Guptill back to the hut.

Fine Fifties from Williamson, Munro and a fiery late flourish from veteran batsman Ross Taylor powered the Kiwis to 203/5 against India. Chasing 204 to win,ย Manish Pandey (14 off 12 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (58 off 29 balls) bossed the chase to power India to a super 6 wicket win against Kiwis as the duo got the job done with 6 balls to spare. India now lead 5 match series by 1-0.
