New Delhi: Virat Kohli's never-ending struggle to score runs in international cricket has led to him facing severe criticism from fans and experts. The former India captain has not played big knocks in the last few years. In the ongoing series against England, he has scored only 59 runs in 5 innings. His lean patch is definitely a matter of concern for the team ahead of T20 World Cup. Notably, Kohli had scored his last century more than two years ago in the year 2019.

The right-handed batsman has scored 70 international tons in his career. He last scored a century against Bangladesh in 2019. Kohli's lean patch has put Kohli's place in the team in danger. Many young cricketers have made full use of the opportunity given in Virat's absence.

Players like Deepak Hooda and Shreyas Iyer have caught the selectors' attention with their performances and may not find a place in the World Cup squad due to Kohli's presence.  But according to a report in InsideSport, which quoted a member of the selection committee as saying that if Virat's form does not improve in the coming times, he will be shown the way out.  According to a member of the selection committee, a fit Virat is sure to be in the T20 World Cup squad, but he will have to perform to retain his place for a long time.

A selection committee member told InsideSport, "There will always be a low after a high and that is exactly what Virat is going through. But considering the team, nobody is immune. Ajinkya and Pujara too have been dropped, and so have so many other cricketers. He will certainly feature in the T20 World Cup if he is fit. But that will be his last chance, as we have to look at the team as well. If he doesn’t get his form back, he will be asked to go back to domestic and get his form back."
