PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, stars of Indian badminton, advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open 2023 BWF Super 300 competition in Iowa on Thursday. Sindhu easily defeated Taiwan's Sung Shuo Yun in two straight sets, 21-14, 21-12, in the round of 16 in women's singles. The Indian badminton player swiftly established a 13-5 lead, putting Sung Shuo Yun on the back foot.


Lakshya defeated Czech Republic's Jan Louda 21-8, 23-21 in his men's singles second-round match. Sindhu, the world No. 12, started slowly but quickly found her stride.


The Taiwanese had no answers for Sindhu's outstanding play, which saw her win the first game and take the lead.PV Sindhu and Sung Shuo Yun went toe-to-toe early in the second game, with both shuttlers seeking to grab control of the match.


Sung Shuo Yun was unable to match PV Sindhu's intensity as the Indian drew away for a comfortable lead as the match progressed. PV Sindhu won the match in 37 minutes by winning five straight points.


In the final eight, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will face off against Chinese competitor Gao Fang Jie. The Indian shuttler's record versus the Chinese shuttler is 1-3 in their meetings.


The third-seeded player in the event, Lakshya Sen, quickly gained momentum and easily won the first game.The second game, in which Lakshya Sen fell behind Jan Louda 19-14, proved to be a far tougher test. The badminton player from India came back to tie the match at 19 all. Lakshya Sen maintained his composure until the match's suspenseful conclusion and won the 39-minute contest.


Lakshya Sen, the 2022 Commonwealth Games winner, will compete against fellow countryman S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, who overcame Israel's Misha Zilberman, in the quarterfinals. 21-18, 21-23, 21-13.
