Fit India Mobile App: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launched the Fit India mobile app today on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Fit India programme. The app provides personal training-cum-fitness guidance to users.


Anurag Thakur said that the app is a gift from the government to the people of India on the occasion of National Sports Day. National Sports Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. 


"The Fit India app is a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, who is a legend for the country's sports persons," said Thakur at the event held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.


Indian captain of the men's hockey team, Manpreet Singh, which recently won a bronze medal at the recent Tokyo Olympic games, participated in the programme virtually. 


"The app is at the crux for the players to stay fit and they are expected to strictly follow the it," said the sports minister. "This is an attempt to keep young India fit. Because only a fit young person can make India great," he said






Manpreet Singh said, "We don't give enough importance to fitness". "We at least need to dedicate just half an hour of our time in a day to fitness. This app is fun and free and anyone can test and monitor their fitness anywhere," he added.


Manpreet further stated that "This app is very helpful and easy to use I have already been using it for sometime and I hope it will help me further improve my fitness".


MoS Nisith Pramanik, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, Director General Sports Authority of India Sandeep Pradhan and other dignitaries also attended this event.
