New Delhi: India is currently taking on Australia in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022 semi-final at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
India won the toss and decided to bat first in a high-voltage match. Scintillating knocks from skipper Yash Dhull (110) & vice-captain SK Rasheed (94) powered India U19 to 290/5 against Australia U19.
Skipper Yash played a true captain's knock tonight even under pressure as he led from the front to help his team recover, after coming at 37/2. Yash, who had earlier tested Covid positive and missed two games, scored his maiden ton tonight making the Australian bowler bowl to his strength.
WHO IS YASH DHULL?
Yash, a resident of Delhi's Janakpuri, has the experience of captaining India's Under 16, Under 19 teams. A right-handed middle-order batsman, at the age of 11, he entered the Bal Bhavan School academy and started working on his cricketing skills from here.
Yash Dhull was the highest run-scorer in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy held in September-October. He scored 302 runs in 5 matches for Delhi at an average of 75.50.
FAMILY STRUGGLES AND BACKGROUND
Yash's father used to work with a cosmetic brand, but left his job to help his son pursue his cricketing career.
“I had to ensure he got the best kit and gear to play from an early age. I gave him the best of English willow bats. He didn’t have just one bat, I kept upgrading them. We had cut down on our expenses. My father was an army man. The pension that he received was used to run the household. Yash would always wonder how we were managing it,” said Yash’s father while speaking to Times Now.
