India's Satish Kumar showed a lot of heart but loses against World No. 1 Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan in men's super heavyweight (+91kg) quarterfinal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. A mix of powerful and precise punches from Jalolov proved to be too powerful for Satish as the Top seed won all three rounds by an anonymous 5-0 decision at the Kokugikan arena on Sunday. But it was not just an easy win for Jalolov, he was forced to literally earn this win in every sense.

Uzbekistan's Bakhodir Jalolov has secured a medal by making it to the semi-finals. With this defeat of Satish Kumar, India's challenge in men's boxing has ended. Satish had booked a ticket to the quarter-finals on Thursday after beating Jamaica's Ricardo Brown 4-1 in the last-16 round match of the plus 91kg weight category.  Seeing that performance, Satish was expected to win and increase India's tally at Tokyo Olympics but he got knocked against the World No. 1 Jalolov.

In all three rounds, Jalolov completely dominated his 32-year-old Indian rival and won each round with a score of 5-0.  Footballer-turned-boxer Jalolov praised Satish for his bravery after ensuring his maiden Olympic medal.  Despite being injured, Satish had come to play this match after being declared medically fit.

However, India has so far secured at least one medal in boxing. This medal has been confirmed by Lovlina Borgohain upon reaching the semi-finals. By the way, if Lovlina wins her next match, then India will attain historic success in boxing. Lovlina has also made it clear that she is not ready to accept anything less than a gold medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
