National Football League (NFL) legend, the highly controversial OJ Simpson, on Thursday, April 11, died aged 76 as the former Buffalo Bills running back was battling cancer. The American had a glorified career and was idolised by many in the field of rugby but the post-retirement life of OJ Simpson made him one of the most hated players in the sport, as he was convicted in a double-murder case of his wife and a friend.

OJ Simpson had a storied life which has taught millions of people a good lesson for "Do's and Don't's" in an indicidual's life. Here's a look at the important and key events, timeline of deceased NFL legend, OJ Simpson:


1. From USC Rookie, To NFL Starlet:


OJ Simpson started his rugby career in the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he gained his stardom and his excellent performance led him to win the 'Heisman Trophy' in 1968. His perofrmances made waves across the country and scouts had their eyes on the young sensation. When the National Football League (NFL) draft came for the calendar year of 1969, OJ Simpson was drafted in by Buffalo Bills and the rest is history.


Not only he managed to deliver iconic performace, but also the running back broke several records, with one of them being his most iconic one, when the American became the first ever NFL footballer to rush for more than 2,000 yards in one season. After a decade full of dominance and consistent performance, the running back decided to hang his boots in 1979 and was later inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.


2. Acting Career And Unsuccessful Marital Life:


The downfall of OJ Simpson started on a personal level when the former footballer got into Hollywood, where he featured in films such as Capricorn One and The Naked Gun, and later ended up marrying Marguerite Whitley and Nicole Brown, both of whom ended up divorcing the footballer, with the latter doing it in 1992.




3. The Trial Of The Century And Post-Imprisonment Life, And The Death:

 

The year 1994 marked the ocaasion of downfall for OJ Simpson as te NFL starlet was convicted in a double murder case of his second wife (Nicole Brown) and her friend Ron Goldman (a waiter), as the latter two were stabbed to death at Nicole's house. The trial was deemd as the 'Trial of the Century' as after several attempts of the prosecution to prove OJ Simpson guilty, the latter walked out as innocent. 

 

Problems didn't take a stopping for him there as he was always involved in one or the other crime, be it robbery at gun point, or stealing. The former NFL player then spent his majority of his 50's and 60's in prison, before coming out as a free man in 2017 after good behaviour and a parole.

 

The NFL starlet's last breath came on April 11, as he died battling cancer at the age of 76.
