Jonny Bairstow ruled out of T20 World Cup: England cricket team's star batter Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 and South Africa Tests after suffering a lower limb injury in a 'freak accident' while playing golf. The news comes as a huge blow for England as the 32-year-old was enjoying the best form of his life, scoring four tons in five innings ever since England cricket team started rebuilding itself under new coach Brendon McCullum. The T20 World Cup 2022 will start on 16th October and will last for 29 days. The final of the tournament will be played in Melbourne on 13th November. Fans are eagerly waiting for the mega T20 tournament.

"Bairstow sustained a lower limb injury in a freak accident whilst playing golf on Friday in Leeds," an ECB statement read. "He will see a specialist next week to ascertain the full extent of the injury. 






"Nottinghamshire batter Ben Duckett has been added to the Test squad for the LV= Insurance third Test at the Kia Oval starting next Thursday.


"A further announcement will be made in due course on who will replace Bairstow in England's ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad."

Earlier on Friday, England Cricket Board has named Bairstow as team's opener for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

England on Friday announced its 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup. Three players have been kept in reserve. Notably, star fast bowler Jofra Archer did not get a place in the team along with batter Jason Roy.


England squad for T20 World Cup: Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brooke, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, David Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.


Reserve players: Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson and Richard Gleason.
