It might well be the NBA offseason but that is not stopping Stephen Curry from making headlines for his sporting excellence. It might not be in basketball but the Golden State Warrior star produced a stunning bit of performance in the golf course during Day 1 of the American Century Championship. The 35-year-old not only featured in the celebrity gold competition but was in sublime form especially on the seventh hole in Lake Tahoe.

The veteran basketball star was on a part-3, 152-yard hold but he managed to achieve the rather extraordinary feat of sinking a hole-in-one. What followed was a rather animated celebration from the sporting icon as he flung his hat off post the scarcely believable scene. Curry ran in ecstasy to celebrate his achievement. The video of the magic moment has made its way online.

As the second round completed, Curry was leading the tournament. In the modified Stableford scoring system, Curry had a total of 44 points. Notably, the new system awards points for par, birdie and eagle while deducting points for bogeys or worse. Curry isn't the only one from the sporting domain who is doing well in this golf competition. Not too far behind from him are ex-MLB (Major League Baseball) pitcher Mark Mulder and former tennis star Mardy Fish with both having accumulated 38 points. Dallas Stars winger Joe Pavelski trails them with 36 points to his credit.

The tournament will come to a close on Sunday (July 16) and it would be interesting to see if Curry manages to maintain a lead and register a win which will be another feather in the cap of the NBA Hall-of Fame-level basketball star.
