New Delhi: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday took to Twitter to share an aerial picture of an upcoming stadium in Leh's Spituk. The football stadium, built in the middle of the hills, is arguably one of the most scenic in the world. The football stadium is built 11,000 feet above sea level and is a part of Khelo India Sports Infrastructure.

The stadium is no less than a dream for the people of Spituk and children who aspire to become professional football players.

While posting the image of the stadium via tweet, Anurag Thakur also mentioned how the sports infrastructure in India is getting better and reaching greater heights.

The government has taken the initiative to develop various sports facilities under the Khelo India program, under which this stadium has been built in this remote area. The stadium is almost ready and will soon be opened for players and fans.

Former Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijuju, in September last year, had laid the foundation stone for various sports facilities including synthetic track and AstroTurf for football in the state.
