The South African women's team on Friday defeated 2009 champions England to confirm a place in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 final against Australia. For the first time in the history of South African cricket, the nation will play a final match of any ICC tournament.
ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 semi-final match between South Africa and England went down to the wire, thanks to the momentum changing overs of pacers Shabnim Ismail (3/27) and Ayabonga Khaka (4/29), who shared seven wickets between them to ensure South Africa stun England by six runs, enter their maiden Women's T20 World Cup final on Friday.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old South African pacer Shabnim Ismail not only took three wickets but also registered her name in record books by bowling the fastest ball in women's cricket.
Ismail bowled a delivery at a speed of 80 miles per hour i.e. 128 km per hour in the match against England at Cape Town. The stat was also shown on television, which was also pointed out by fans on Twitter, who lauded the veteran bowler for attaining the mega milestone. However, Shabnim bowling the fastest delivery in women's cricket has not yet been officially confirmed by the ICC.
