New Delhi: Bangladesh on Sunday suffered a huge setback in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 as national hero and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a hamstring injury. He's currently the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament and also tops the list of highest wicket-takers in T20 Internationals.

"He has a hamstring injury and while the scan reports will tell you about the grade of injury, he is ruled out of the tournament," a source reportedly told news agency ANI.

Talking about Bangladesh's journey so far in the tournament, they are yet to win their first WC game after losing all their three matches so far. Bangladesh has almost been knocked out of the race for the semi-finals. In their next World Cup match, Bangladesh will lock horns with Australia in Dubai on Thursday.

With three wins from three matches, England currently leads the Group 2 points table. Shakib holds the record for taking maximum number of wickets in T20 Internationals. He attained the big T20 feat during Bangladesh vs Scotland T20 World Cup match.

Earlier this week, team management had decided to replace Mohammad Saifuddin with Rubel Hossain in Bangladesh cricket team. Speedster Rubel, with an experience of 159 international matches including 28 T20 Internationals, was named as Saifuddin's replacement, who was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a back injury.
