Sargar could have won the gold medal, but unfortunately, he got injured during his second attempt in the final. Despite the injury, he showed tremendous courage by going for the third attempt.
Social media was flooded with wishes for Sargar after he secured a silver medal at CWG 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first personalities to wish the Indian weightlifter as he wrote: "Exceptional effort by Sanket Sargar! His bagging the prestigious Silver is a great start for India at the Commonwealth Games. Congratulations to him and best wishes for all future endeavours."
Sargar is eyeing the Paris Olympics to be held in 2024 and he wants to enter the 61 kg category in the mega event. Sanket Sargar had reduced drinking water and used to eat only boiled vegetables and salads to prepare for Commonwealth Games 2022.
