Paris: It is Day 5 at the French Open 2021, many players like Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have moved ahead in the tournament. Andrey Rublev of Russia had a surprise exit from the tournament. But a piece of shocking news is arriving from France.

World no. 1 and world no. 2 in men's doubles, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic have tested positive for Covid-19. Both of these men are from Croatia. The French Tennis Federation that organizes the tournament gave its information in a statement.

“The Roland Garros tournament organisers confirm that two players from the men’s doubles draw, on the same team, have tested positive for COVID-19,” a statement read.

“The Roland Garros tournament organisers confirm that two players from the men’s doubles draw, on the same team, have tested positive for COVID-19. They will be replaced by the first team on the alternate list,” it added.

“Since the start of the tournament, 2,446 tests have been carried out to date on the populations of players and their entourage,” the French tennis federation (FFT) said in a statement.

These two were considered favourites before the start of the tournament.

In the men's singles tournament this year, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are all in the same quarter, which means only one of them could go in the final. It is being speculated that Djokovic might face Nadal in the semi-final. But it won't be as easy for the Spaniard to win his 14th Roland Garros this time. Alexei Popyrin of Australia will be the one who will face Nadal in the first round of the French Open.

There are many good players in the quarter which has Nadal, Djoko and, Federer. Those players include seventh seed Andrey Rublev 2021 breakthrough star Aslan Karatsev, Diego Schwartzman, among others.
