New Delhi: Former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad has claimed that he is ready for ‘Martyrdom’ amid growing tension between India and Pakistan after the recently conducted surgical strike by Indian Army across the Line of Control (LoC).

India’s action came as a response to an attack in Uri on Indian Army base, killing 18 soldiers.

The Pakistani cricketer has spoken against the Indian government claiming each child in Pakistan is ready to sacrifice their life for the country.

Speaking on Pakistani news channel Samaa TV, Miandad said: "We are ready for martyrdom. Our nation cannot be cowed down by hollow threats."

Earlier, Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal had called for peace between two countries and advocated bilateral cricket series to reduce growing tension

However, India has requested the ICC to avoid putting India and Pakistan in same pool in multi National tournaments. BCCI has already confirmed that no cricket will be played between the two nations as long as Pakistan continues to stop terrorism.
