New Delhi: Several fans and people from cricket fraternity have come out in support of veteran Wriddhiman Saha ever since the wicketkeeper-batter shared screenshot from a "journalist". Indian cricket team's former head coach Ravi Shastri reacted to the ongoing controversy and slammed the journalist, saying it was "shocking a player being threatened by a journo". Shastri also demanded immediate intervention of the BCCI president into the matter.
Shastri, the former Indian all-rounder who recently stepped down as the head coach of Team India tweeted, "Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that's happening too frequently with #TeamIndia. Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS"
Other veterans have also come out Saha's support
Former India opener Virender Sehwag and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh have also come out in support of Wriddhiman Saha. They too condemned the behaviour of the journalist towards the cricketer.
For the unversed, four senior players, including wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha, have been dropped from Team India for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. After the team was announced, Saha took to Twitter to post a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with a journalist, who was threatening the cricketer for an interview.
