Karachi [Pakistan], November 11 (ANI): Pakistan pacer Rumman Raees has been appointed as the vice-captain of Islamabad United for the upcoming third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The 26-year-old will serve as a deputy to former Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, under whose captaincy United won the first season of the PSL.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who has been a part of the franchise for the last two seasons, has been appointed United's spin bowling coach for the third edition.

Speaking to the media at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, franchise owner Ali Naqvi likened the United to family and said, "These two appointments are a continuation of that belief."

"The way he (Raees) has represented the franchise over the past two years made him the ideal candidate for this role," the Dawn quoted Naqvi, as saying.

The franchise's head coach, Dean Jones, expressed confidence in the move and said Raees would learn a lot under a mentor like Misbah-ul-Haq.

On a query on spin bowling coach's appointment, Naqvi revealed that the team's staff had suggested Saeed Ajmal's name for the role, which they accepted without any issue.

The third edition of the PSL is set to begin from February 9 next year. (ANI)
