Former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday, August 31. The 84-year-old had undergone a life-saving surgery for a brain clot on August 10 and was being closely monitored by a team of specialists for past 21 days. The tragic news of his passing away was shared by his son Abhijit Mukherjee on social media. Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted: "With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Pranab Mukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital and prayers ,duas and prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You."


In no time, social media was flooded with condolences for Pranab Da, who had a long political career and was known to be one of the most revered politicians of his time. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag etc. paid tribute to the former President of India following his demise.



















PM Modi also paid tribute to Pranab Da and tweeted, "India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society."

Pranab Mukherjee's political career spanned over five decades. Mukherjee has been a senior leader in the Indian National Congress and has occupied several ministerial portfolios in the Government of India.
