Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the world's best football player, has created history. Ronaldo has become the highest scorer in international football. Ronaldo achieved the milestone by breaking former Iran striker Ali Daei's record for most goals. 


Ronaldo broke the record for most goals in the World Cup qualifier against Ireland. Ronaldo's two goals helped Portugal beat reland 2-1. Portugal's winning margin could have been 3-1 but Ronaldo could not convert the penalty corner into a goal.

However, Ireland had taken the lead at the start of the match. John Egan gave Ireland the lead in the 45th minute. But Ronaldo managed to get Portugal back in the last minutes. Ronaldo then scored his 110th goal in the 89th minute to level the score for Portugal. With this goal, Ronaldo broke Ali Daei's record for the highest score of 109 goals. Ronaldo then scored his 111th goal in the 180th match in injury time to secure Portugal's victory. 






Ronaldo is extremely happy.


Ronaldo has expressed happiness on this very special achievement. Ronaldo said, "I am very happy, not just because I broke the record but for the special moments that we got. This is so difficult to score two goals in the final moments of the match but I will appreciate what the team did. We maintained confidence till the end.''
