Dubai:  India's Pooja Rani has won a gold medal for the second time in a row at The Asian Boxing Championship 2021. She defeated Mavluda Movlonova of Uzbekistan in the 75 kg category. It was a dominant show by the Tokyo-bound boxer, she won the bout by 5-0, a thorough one-sided performance. 



Mary Kom lost her final against Nazym Kyzaibay of Kazakhstan. She lost 2-3 in a split vote in the 51 kg Flyweight category. This is Mary Kom's 2nd silver medal at th Asian Championships. Previously in the competition, Mary has won 5 gold medals and 2 silver medals.


Apart from Mary Kom, debutants Lal buat saihi and Anupama Kundualso lost in their respective categories. Lal Buat Saihi lost 2-3 as well in the 64-kg category but after giving her Kazakh rival Milana Safronova a fight to remember while Kundu lost toLazzat Kungeibayeva of Kazakhstan.  


Sports Minister Kiren Rjijiju congratulated Rani in a tweet. He wrote: "Congratulations to @BoxerPooja on winning Gold, legendary @MangteC and upcoming star #Lalbuatsaihi for winning Silver Medals at the Asian Boxing Championship!"



He also congratulated Anupama on the victory and wrote, "I extend hearty Congratulations to Anupama on winning silver medal at the Asian Boxing Championship!"


Simranjit Kaur (60kg), Lovlina Borgohain (69kg),  Jaismine (57kg) and Sakshi Chaudhary (54kg) were the other medal winners who won the bronze medal.
