New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded a historic achievement on Saturday as Indian women wrestlers claimed the team title for the first time at the U-20 world championship, marking a monumental triumph. Expressing his excitement on X, formerly Twitter, he emphasized the remarkable performance by the Indian team, which secured a total of 7 medals, including 3 golds. Prime Minister Modi highlighted the outstanding achievement of Antim Panghal, who stood out with her exceptional performance. Panghal's consecutive title wins have marked her as the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to achieve this feat in the U20 world championships. The Prime Minister praised her extraordinary dedication, tenacity, and undeniable talent.






The sentiment of pride was echoed not just by Panghal's accomplishment but also by the overall performance of the Indian women's wrestling team. Savita's victory in the 62kg category added another crown to India's collection, as the team claimed the top spot in the team standings for the very first time in the history of this sporting event.


The success story for Indian wrestling was further embellished by the remarkable achievement of a total of seven Indian wrestlers. Alongside the gold medallists, Antim Panghal and Savita, the Indian contingent also secured one silver medal through Antim Kundu (65kg) and three bronze medals earned by Reena (57kg), Arju (68kg) and Harshita (72kg).
