Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji will be preferred for the men's doubles tennis competition from the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024 , the All India Tennis Association (AITA) announced on Thursday (June 13). Notably, Bopanna, who is currently ranked 4th in the world, was allowed to choose his pair, and the 44-year-old chose Sriram Balahji who currently finds himself sitting at the 67th place in the world rankings.


The same was confirmed that by the AITA through an official release which also confirmed that the two of them will be accompanied by coach Balachandran Manikkath and physio Rebecca V. Orshaegen. It is pertinent to note that India's best chance at winning a tennis medal comes in the men's doubles category.

"We are proud to announce that Rohan Bopanna and N. Sriram Balaji have qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024! With Coach Mr. Balachandran Manikkath and Physio Ms. Rebecca V. Orshaegen by their side, we're ready to make a mark on the world stage," AITA wrote on Twitter.

Bopanna Faced Balaji In French Open 2024 Doubles


Bopanna and Balaji faced each other in the French Open 2024. While Bopanna was paired with Australia's Matthew Ebden, Balaji was paired with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela at the Roland Garros 2024. On that occasion, Bopanna had the last laugh, going pas their opponent duo 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes.
