Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik became a proud father on Tuesday morning when wife and Indian tennis star Sania Mirza gave birth to a baby boy.

Malik, who climbed to the 2nd highest run scorer’s spot in T20Is barely a couple of nights ago, took to twitter to express his excitement. “Excited to announce: Its a boy. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled,” Malik Tweeted.

The former Pakistan captain also announced that both Sania and the baby are doing good. my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah," the cricketer wrote on Twitter.

Prior to Malik's official announcement, his manager and agent, Ameem Haq, had tweeted: "#BabyMirzaMalik boy is here."

"Baby and mother are all smiles, the dad is over the moon," he said.

The news came as a double delight for Malik as it came a day after Pakistan whitewashed Australia 3-0 in T20Is for the first time ever and Malik contributed with crucial runs in the 2nd T20I.

Sania, on the other hand, has been away from the tennis court for a while but has been very active on social media giving regular updates about her health conditions. She, however, is yet to make any announcement about giving birth to a baby boy.

Interestingly Malik had dismissed the rumours of wife Sania giving birth to a baby boy a couple of weeks ago. "We will do a proper announcement when the kid decides to arrive, please keep us in your Duas (and don’t believe everything you see/read on the internet please!)", Malik had tweeted back then.

The Pakistan all-rounder kept his promise and made the formal announcement on Tuesday.
