The Government of India has announced the Padma Awards, highest civilian honours of India, on the eve of 72nd Republic Day. President Ram Nath Kovind approved conferment of 119 Padma Awards, which includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards. Amongst that, name of seven athletes was also announced for the prestigious Padma Shri award on Monday.

The list includes KY Venkatesh (Para Sportsman) from Karnataka, Virender Singh (Wrestler) from Haryana, Sudha Hari Narayan (Athletics) from Uttar Pradesh, Madhavan Nambiar (Athletics) from Kerala, Anshu Jamsenpa (Mountaineer) from Arunachal Pradesh, Mouma Das (Table Tennis) from West Bengal and P Anita (Basketball) of Tamil Nadu have been selected.
Sudha Singh - Sudha Singh, a resident of Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, is an Indian Olympic athlete. She participates in the 3000-meter steeplechase event. In the steeplechase, the player has to complete the race by crossing different barriers and water ditches.
In this competition, Sudha has won gold in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, silver medal in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. She has also represented India at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. In 2012, she was also honoured with the Arjuna Award.

Mouma Das - The star Indian Tennis player hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. Mouma, 36, has represented India at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. She has won gold in the women's team event at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, silver in doubles, silver in the women's team at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games and a bronze in women's doubles.
Mouma Das won the bronze medal in the Women's team at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
