Ravi Dahiya To Become Third Wrestler From Haryana's Nahari Village To Feature In Olympic Games

Tokyo Olympic 2020: Ravi Dahiya is set to become the third player from Nahari village to participate in the Olympic Games. He is expected to win a medal for the country.

Tokyo Olympic 2020: About seven thousand people live in Nahari, a small village in Haryana's Sonipat. The upcoming wrestling star Ravi Dahiya from Nahari village is going to participate in Tokyo Olympics. But you will be surprised to know that Ravi Dahiya is the third wrestler from this small village to participate in the Olympic Games.

Amit Dahiya also represented India in the 2012 London Olympics. Above all, both Amit and Ravi have won medals for the country at the World Championships. 

This time in the 57 kg category of freestyle wrestling, a medal is expected from Ravi Dahiya. Ravi Dahiya is currently in excellent form. Ravi is taller in comparison to the wrestlers in the 57 kg category. Recently, Ravi Dahiya also trained in Russia after performing well in international competitions. Therefore, along with Bajrang Punia, the expectation of a medal from Ravi Dahiya is also very high.

The journey from Nahari village to Tokyo was not easy for Ravi. Born in a farmer's family, Ravi started wrestling in the village along with helping his father in farming. His journey started in indigenous ways and after training in the soil for the first three to four years, Ravi received training from Satpal Singh at Chhatrasal Stadium.

Ravi's entire village hopes for a medal

Ravi's father Rakesh Dahiya said, "The children of Nahari village have a lot of passion for wrestling. But not everyone gets a chance to practice by going 60/70 km away. That's why many children do not get opportunities for further training, despite that they are very talented. Wrestlers like Ravi can come to the forefront if the government starts a training academy here."

The whole village is now in the hope that Ravi Dahiya will bring medals to the country. Padam Dahiya, who has known Ravi since childhood, said, "The biggest plus point that Ravi has is that he is not ready to give up till the end."

Ravi's neighbor Ravindra Dahiya said, "Since childhood, the one who has covered such a long way facing so many difficulties surely has a medal in his name."

Let us tell you that the Wrestling Federation of India had organized a special training camp for wrestlers in Russia before the Olympics. The reason is that the Eastern European countries are considered a superpower in wrestling. Russia is also included in them. After this training camp and with better preparations, the players will now leave for Tokyo.
