Paris Paralympics 2024 Opening Ceremony: The Paris Paralympics 2024 are here. The opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games are currently underway in the French capital with more than 100 members of the Indian contingent participating in the Parade of Nations. India's Sumit Antil, Bhagyashree Jadhav, the flagbearers of the country, waved the Indian flag when it was India's turn in the Parade.


India were 84th in order in which the names of the participating countries of the Paralympic countries are announced. Notably, the nations are announced in alphabetical order in the language of the host nation with the last name being that of the host country.

Meanwhile, the actual sporting events of the Paris Paralympics 2024 are all set to begin on August 30. For India, focus will be on shuttlers, archers & yclers on opening day. All the Indian athletes who have their events scheduled on Day 1 of the quadrennial event did not participate in the Paris Paralympics 2024 opening ceremony.

India's Overall Medal Tally In Paralympics


India have won 31 medals so far in the Paralympics. These include-nine golds, 12 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. While in the Olympics, the bulk of the medals have come from a team sport- the Indian men's hockey team, in Paralympics, it's quite the opposite with most of the medals coming from individual events. 19 of the 31 Paralympic medals came in the last edition of the Summer Paralympics alone which was held in Tokyo in 2021.
