IND vs GER Hockey Semifinal, Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian Men's Hockey team lost to Germany in the Men's Hocke Semifinal of Paris Olympics 2024. The Harmanpreet Singh & Co. had taken the lead early but succumbed to a 3-2 defeat in a thrilling clash played at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, Colombes on Tuesday (August 6).


India will now face Spain in the bronze medal on August 8 (Thursday). India took the lead early, courtesy of a goal through a penalty corner from Harmapreet Singh. However, Germany did well to come back and took a 2-1 lead. India did find an equaliser before the Germans found the winner in the final quarter.

The goal which put India on level terms with Germany after they were 2-1 down was Sukhjeet Singh who scored his first Olympics gold through a brilliant touch on a penalty corner. However, that was not enough on the day against a tough opponent. 


Marco Miltkau Scores The Winner For Germany In Final Quarter


For Germany, Gonzalo Peillat scored the opening goal which helped them restore parity before Christopher Ruehr scored the goal which took them to lead for the first time in the match. The goal that made the difference though was scored by Marco Miltkau scores after getting an assist from Hinrichs off the left flank.

The result means India's legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will end his career playing a bronze medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024. Known as the Wall Of India, Sreejesh was superb even in the semifinal but India still conceded a goal too much. However, they will now want to clinch the bronze medal match despite their dream of a gold shattered. India haven't been to the Hockey final in Olympics since 1980.
