It has been an Olympic Games full of heartbreaks for the 117-member Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024. While India have bagged three medals in the Olympics so far, there have been so many athletes who have come close to the finish line, only to finish fourth and miss out on a medal by the narrowest of margins.

Perhaps no such defeat for an Indian athlete was as painful as Nisha Dahiya's. The Indian wrestler looked certain to play a medal match after securing a place in the semis with her leading 8-2 with 33 seconds to go. However, she sustained a serious injury to her arm and shoulder and received medical attention in the middle.

While she did manage to continue the bout despite being under immense pain, her North Korean opponent Sol Gum Pak used the Indian's injury to her advantage to turn the match on its head and eventually went on to beat Dahiya 10-8 who was only in a position to defend after her injury.

Dahiya was in tears after losing the 68kg quarterfinal bout. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, it turned out to be another medalless day for India at the Paris Olympics 2024. While Lakshya Sen had a chance featured in the bronze medal match and even had the lead after winning the opening game and Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka played the mixed skeet team bronze medal match against China, India ended up losing both the fixtures. India's medal tally stands at 3 with all three medals coming in the sport of shooting.
