The star Indian javelin thrower was fighting weight issues as a child but as an elite athlete, he remains on a strict diet and has to discipline himself to maintain his fitness.

Neeraj Chopra Body Fat Percentage

Notably, body fat percentage has become an increasingly important and prominent indicator of an athlete's overall fitness with increased development in modern sports science. The important thing to note though is that the ideal body fat percentage is different for athletes of different disciplines.

For someone participating in weightlifting, a body fat percentage of 3 to 5 can be deemed an ideal range. However, if the body fat percentage is below that, then it is considered unhealthy. Neeraj, meanwhile, participate in an activity sport.

For Male javelin throwers, the ideal body fat percentage is around 10-10.5 per cent. Neeraj tries to keep his body fat percentage around the 10 per cent mark.

Neeraj Chopra Breakfast

"When it comes to diet, emphasising natural foods such as fruits and salads is paramount," Neeraj Chopra said as quoted by the official website of Olympics.

"Personally, my morning routine includes a breakfast before training, consisting of fruits, yoghurt, oats, three-four egg whites and two pieces of bread. Additionally, I have juice or coconut water and dry fruits."

Neeraj Chopra Lunch

At lunch, the 26-year-old usually consumes curd and rice. He has it with pulses, vegetables, grilled chicken and salad. In between the training sessions and gym, Chopra eats chia seeds, dry fruits like almonds or banana. He even enjoys fresh juice.

Neeraj Chopra Dinner

"For dinner, I avoid carbs, opting for vegetables, salads and various  sources of protein. Before bedtime, I have milk, dates, and sometimes jaggery," Neeraj Chopra said was quoted as saying by Olympics official website.
